Kwara Launches AI Training for Secondary School Teachers to Transform Classroom Learning

Ilorin, Nigeria – In a bold step towards modernizing education, the Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, on Thursday declared open a one-day training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in pedagogy for selected public senior secondary school teachers in the state.

The training, themed “Empowering the 21st Century Educator” and held at the Ministry’s Resource Centre in Tanke, Ilorin, marks what Dr. Olohungbebe described as “a new chapter in our collective journey to transform education in the state.”

“Yesterday, I had the privilege of declaring open a one-day training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in pedagogy for selected public senior secondary school teachers in Kwara State,” the commissioner said.

He stated further that, “I reminded our teachers that this is more than just learning about technology. It is about re-imagining how knowledge is delivered and positioning our classrooms as hubs of innovation, inclusion, and inspiration. Truly, this is a turning point in our reform agenda, and I am proud of the steps we are taking together.”

Dr. Olohungbebe expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, acknowledging his support for initiatives geared toward revamping education in Kwara. He also commended the lead trainer, Mrs. Fadimu Benedicta Toyosi, and all participants who contributed to the impactful session.

He further assured that the training would be expanded across the state: “We will continue to spread this training so that more teachers across Kwara can benefit.”

The initiative is expected to equip teachers with the skills to integrate AI into teaching and learning, thereby enhancing classroom delivery and preparing students for the demands of the 21st century. Read More
