Mudashiru Obasa, the former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who was absent during his removal, has asserted that he is still the speaker of the House.
Representing the Agege constituency, Obasa dismissed the fraud allegations against him, labeling them as “fictitious and unsubstantiated.”
At a press conference held at his home in Ikeja, Lagos, he stated, “I strongly believe I am still the speaker until the right procedures are followed.” He added, “If you want to remove me, do it the proper way, and I will not contest it. I’m a Muslim, and I believe in fate. But it should be done correctly.”
There are claims that his ambition to become governor may have contributed to his removal. However, Obasa noted that there is nothing wrong with aspiring to hold that office.
Weeks after his removal, Obasa filed a suit against the Assembly and Meranda in the Lagos State High Court, challenging his ousting as speaker.
