Laide Bakare Denies Mocking Biola Bayo Over Marriage Crash, Says “I Can Never Shade My Own Sister”

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has publicly refuted claims that she mocked her colleague, Biola Bayo, following the latter’s recent announcement of her marriage ending.

The controversy began after Bakare posted a video of herself dancing on Instagram, accompanied by a cryptic caption that read: “All of us will eat breakfast. Asiko lo ma ya to. Good morning people.”

The phrase, often used colloquially in Nigeria, is widely interpreted as a reference to heartbreak or failed relationships.

The timing of the post — which coincided with Biola Bayo’s disclosure of her separation from husband Oluseyi — led many netizens to accuse Bakare of throwing shade at her fellow actress.

However, in a video response shared on Friday, Bakare dismissed the claims, describing the backlash as unfounded and asserting that the post was entirely unrelated to Biola Bayo’s situation.

“Bad commenters and trolls associations, something must be wrong with you,” she said. “Please let us all be guided. It is still June 5th here in California to be precise. I can never shade my own sister Biola Bayo. My prayers are with you. I didn’t get any updates. I was busy with my daughter’s graduation. Trolls are evil.”

Bakare emphasized her support for Biola, stressing that there was no ill intent behind her post.

Meanwhile, Biola Bayo had earlier in the week announced her separation from her husband, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. The actress expressed her sadness over the decision but maintained that it was in their best interest.

As the dust settles, Bakare’s clarification aims to dispel any misunderstanding and reaffirm her solidarity with her colleague during a difficult time. Read More
