Former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido says he is open to meeting President Tinubu for Nigeria’s progress, denies APC invitation and ADC claims

Sule Lamido Opens Door to Tinubu Meeting, Denies APC Invitation, ADC Claims

Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has declared his willingness to meet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying any engagement must serve Nigeria’s unity, progress, and development.

Speaking at his Bamaina country home on Sallah day, Lamido emphasised that he remains open to constructive dialogue if it would benefit the nation.

“I will be more than willing. So when are we going to see him?” he said.

The elder statesman, however, firmly dismissed claims that he rejected an invitation from the President to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting no such offer was ever made.

“When was I invited? Let me know, please. Did he send you to me? I’m hearing this from you for the first time,” he stated.

Lamido stressed that any potential meeting with the President should rise above partisan politics and focus squarely on national interest.

“If it is about the progress and development of Nigeria, I am open. I will be willing to meet him,” he added.

Reacting to reports linking him to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following viral images allegedly showing him with the party’s logo, Lamido dismissed the claims as social media fabrication.

“In this era of social media and content creation, anything is possible. People sit in their rooms and create stories. I have not seen such pictures,” he said.

On the state of the nation, Lamido urged Nigerians to reflect on their electoral choices, noting that leadership outcomes are a direct consequence of voters’ decisions.

“When we were campaigning, we urged Nigerians to vote right, with integrity and conscience. People voted, and whatever you put in is what you get out,” he said.

He also used the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to felicitate with Muslims, calling for prayers for peace, unity, and stability across the country.

“We thank Allah Almighty for sparing our lives to witness Ramadan. It was a period of repentance, prayers and supplications,” he said.

Lamido further prayed for national renewal and responsible leadership.

“We pray that Allah secures Nigeria, restores peace, stability and prosperity, and guides our leaders to do the right thing,” he added. Read More
