LG Polls: Ogun PDP Chairman Tella Vows to Resist Rigging

“We are committed to ensuring a smooth, free, and fair election and are ready to combat any form of rigging.”

Chief Abayomi Tella, the Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has issued a stern warning that the party will oppose any attempts at rigging or the announcement of fraudulent results in the Local Government elections taking place today, Saturday, November 16, 2024.

In an exclusive interview with newsheadline247, Tella emphasized that the PDP is fully prepared to counter any rigging efforts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He stressed the importance of allowing the people of Ogun State to freely choose their preferred leaders in their respective councils.

Tella, who previously served as a local government chairman, also questioned the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) about the issuance of two result sheets for the Chairmanship election and two for the Councilorship polls, contrary to the electoral law which stipulates only one.

He further stated, “We are committed to ensuring a smooth, free, and fair election and are ready to combat any form of rigging.”

At the time of reporting, the election had not yet begun in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area due to delays in the distribution of electoral materials to polling units. While some materials have reportedly moved to Atan ward, Ere, and Alapoti, others are still pending distribution.” More
