Malikah Shabazz, a daughter of Malcolm X, was found dead in her Brooklyn, New York, home Monday, police told ABC News.

She was found in her living room by her daughter. The police do not suspect foul play.

The developing story comes as two men found guilty in Malcolm X’s assassination are expected to have their convictions thrown out.

The death of Ms. Shabazz, 56, did not appear to be suspicious, said a spokeswoman for the city medical examiner, who will determine the cause of death. A high-ranking police official said accidental food poisoning may have played a role.

Minister and human rights activist Malcolm X was killed 57 years ago in the New York City neighborhood of Washington Heights.
