It will be an unforgettable day of grief as respected journalist of the people and three-time winner of the Ogun State Journalist of the Year Award, Gbenga Davies is set to be buried today, Wednesday, August 14, 2019, in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Davies, who was a younger brother to Otunba Femi Davies, the Chief Executive of Metronews, died while watching a football match with friends on Friday, August 9, 2019.

He was 46years old.

The family announced the burial arrangement of the popular journalist which starts at 11.00 am when the body will leave General Hospital, Sokenu, Abeokuta.

There will be brief service of songs at the NUJ Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin House, Abeokuta, at 11.30 am. His remains will be buried at Kobape Cemetery by 12.30pm.

The announcement of Davies death caused a lot of shocks and grieves across different divides.

Family, friends and associates all with one voice have described Gbenga as a good man.

Gbenga Davies, who until his death was the spokesperson for JAC Motors-sponsored Abeokuta Marathon, was known all over to be a friend of many, an humanitarian, whose positive contributions to his immediate community and beyond will remain eternally visible on the Sands of Time.

He is survived by his wife, children, brothers, and an aged mother.
