No Shaking! Lagos Assembly Backs Meranda, Adjourns Plenary Indefinitely
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have expressed their confidence in Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, the Speaker, amidst rumors of her potential resignation.
The motion to back Meranda was introduced by Hon. Oladipo Ajomale, who represents Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2, and was seconded by Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, during Monday’s plenary session.
Following this, Hon. Temitope Adewale, the majority leader, proposed a motion to adjourn the plenary indefinitely, which was unanimously accepted by the house.
Earlier in the day, security personnel had cordoned off the speaker’s office due to growing speculation about Meranda’s resignation. Police and task force officers were stationed around the complex to maintain order, with some officers patrolling the premises.
