NUJ Hails Dangote Refinery For Lowering Petrol Prices
The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has applauded Dangote Refinery for its ongoing efforts to reduce the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
Commenting on the recent drop in the ex-gantry price of PMS from ₦880 to ₦865 per litre, NUJ Lagos State Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, described Dangote Refinery as a vital partner in Nigeria’s progress.
He noted that the price cut, driven by lower global crude oil prices, has positioned the refinery as a champion for ordinary Nigerians amid economic challenges.
“Dangote Refinery has proven to be a true blessing for Nigerians. Its entry into the fuel market has transformed the sector, fostering competition and affordability,” Ajayi said.
He urged other business leaders to emulate Dangote’s commitment to easing the economic burden on citizens, adding, “Over the past few months, Dangote Refinery has consistently reduced petrol prices. We hope other industrialists will follow this example to drive progress in various sectors.”
Ajayi further expressed optimism that having more visionary entrepreneurs like Dangote in other industries could accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth. “With three or four such leaders in key sectors, Nigeria’s development would advance rapidly,” he remarked.
The NUJ chairman also praised the Federal Executive Council’s (FEC) decision on Wednesday to fully implement the previously suspended Naira-for-Crude agreement with local refiners. He believes this move will enhance public confidence and improve living standards across the country. Read More
