Councillors across Ogun State’s 20 LGAs have thrown their weight behind Senator Solomon Adeola’s 2027 governorship ambition, as images shared by aide Kayode Odunaro spark fresh political momentum

Ogun 2027: Councillors from 20 LGAs Endorse Senator Yayi’s Governorship Ambition
Fresh political momentum is building around the 2027 Ogun State governorship race following the emergence of images showing councillors from all 20 local government areas of the state publicly backing Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The images were shared by Kayode Odunaro, a senior aide and media strategist to the senator, who disclosed that the engagement took place in Abuja during the Annual National Conference of the National Councillors’ Forum of Nigeria (NCFN).
Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, is widely regarded as a frontline aspirant in the contest to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun when his tenure expires.
In a post on his verified social media page on Friday, December 12, 2025, Odunaro wrote, “Yesterday, on behalf of THE INCOMING OGUN ’27 Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA, I received and delivered the message of the Distinguished Senator to councillors from the 20 LGAs of Ogun State in Abuja, FCT, during their Annual National Conference of the National Councillors’ Forum of Nigeria (NCFN). These ones are Yayified… if you know, you know.”
Within Ogun’s political circles, “The Incoming Ogun 2027” has become a popular street euphemism used by supporters to describe the anticipated next governor of the state, while “Yayified” is a slang phrase signalling enthusiastic endorsement of Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition.
Odunaro, described by political observers as a grounded and influential media handler, is widely regarded as the key figure driving strategic messaging and digital engagement around the senator’s political activities.
The latest development is seen as part of a calculated series of grassroots-aligned political signals aimed at reinforcing Senator Adeola’s support base, particularly at the local government level, where councillors play a critical role in mobilisation and voter outreach.
The public show of support also comes amid rising speculation within political circles about internal permutations within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including reports of resistance to Adeola’s ambition from unexpected quarters.
Despite the speculations, the visible alignment of councillors across the state suggests that Senator Adeola’s governorship bid continues to gain traction at the grassroots, strengthening his standing as the 2027 race gradually takes shape. Read More
