Ogun By-Election: INEC Officials, Politicians, Arrested With Bags of Cash
Security operatives in Ogun State have arrested a politician and some suspected officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged plans to buy votes in the ongoing by-election.
The suspects were reportedly caught with a large sum of money at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, on Saturday.
A viral video circulating on social media shows two INEC officials — a male and a female — alongside alleged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), being interrogated by security personnel.
In the footage, the suspects are seen squatting while a security officer confronts them, alleging that intelligence reports revealed they had received money from party officials to compromise the election.
“The INEC officials were contacted earlier and given a large sum of money by party officers for vote buying,” the interrogator declared in the video.
The arrest has sparked widespread reactions online, with many calling for a thorough investigation to safeguard the credibility of the electoral process in Ogun State. Read More
