Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni visited the Olota of Ottaland, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to security, community policing and peace, exchanging awards of recognition

Olota Honours Ogun CP Ojajuni as Police, Traditional Rulers Deepen Security Partnership

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has strengthened collaboration with traditional institutions in the state following a courtesy visit to the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege (Lanlege Ekun II).

The visit, which took place at the Ipeti Royal Square in Ota on Thursday, July 16, underscored ongoing efforts to deepen community policing and enhance security across Ogun State.

According to a statement issued by the Principal Secretary to the Olota, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, CP Ojajuni and his delegation were warmly received by the monarch, members of the Olota-in-Council, prominent traditional rulers, community leaders and youth representatives led by the President of the Ota Youth Assembly, Prince Adefolarin Ojugbele.

The police commissioner was accompanied by senior officers of the Ogun State Police Command and the Ota Area Command, led by the Area Commander, ACP Oladele Bamidele.

Speaking during the visit, CP Ojajuni expressed appreciation to the Olota, fellow traditional rulers and stakeholders for their continued support for the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace, security and community development. He appealed for sustained collaboration between the police and the traditional institution to ensure a safer and crime-free Ogun State.

The commissioner noted that effective policing thrives on the active participation of communities and traditional authorities, stressing that stronger partnerships remain vital to tackling security challenges.

In his response, the Olota of Ottaland commended CP Ojajuni for what he described as exemplary leadership, professionalism and commitment since assuming office. The monarch particularly praised the commissioner’s proactive security initiatives, including the launch of Operation Kosaye, which he said has boosted the fight against crime in Ogun State and neighbouring states.

The royal father reaffirmed that the people of Ota-Awori remain peaceful, hospitable and committed to justice, while pledging the community’s continued support for security agencies and sustainable development across the area.

The event attracted several traditional rulers and members of the Olota-in-Council, including the Onitele of Itele-Otta, Oba Ademola Eletu Ashorota; the Onitetiku of Owode Otta, Oba Wasiu Ogungbayi; the Ajana of Ijana Otta, Oba Clement Akinyemi; the Onikotun of Otun Otta, Oba Akeem Odunaro; the Onibudo of Ayetoro Itele-Otta, Oba Adewumi Adeniji Odutala; the Elegushi of Egushi Otta, Oba Maroof Adio Alagbe, alongside other high chiefs, community leaders and youth representatives.

The visit ended with an exchange of honours as the Olota presented CP Ojajuni with an Award of Recognition for his outstanding dedication and professionalism in the discharge of his duties. In return, the police commissioner presented an award to the monarch in recognition of his unwavering support for security initiatives and his contributions to promoting peace and stability in Ogun State.
