It is easy for political opportunists to emerge close to the election, claiming they have all the answers. But leadership is about track record, capacity, and vision
OGUN EAST, THE TIME TO DECIDE IS NOW, NOT 2027 | By Olanrewaju R. Adebayo
There is a Yoruba saying: “Oni ti a ba gbagbe, ola le da nu.” If we forget today’s lessons, we may lose the future.
Though the 2027 elections may still seem far off, the time to decide is now. Wise people do not wait until the last minute to make critical decisions; they prepare ahead and ensure they choose the right path before confusion and deception set in. We cannot afford to be complacent. We must settle it in our hearts now. Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) is the best and only choice for Ogun East.
Over the years, we have seen politicians make promises, win elections, and disappear, only to return four years later with the same tired speeches. But there is one man whose record speaks for itself, a man who has not just spoken but has acted, not just promised but delivered.
OGD Has Proven Himself. Why Settle for Empty Promises?
It is easy for political opportunists to emerge close to the election, claiming they have all the answers. But leadership is about track record, capacity, and vision. If someone has never done anything meaningful for the people before now, why should we trust them to start in 2027?
Otunba Gbenga Daniel has already delivered, and we must not allow distractions to take us backward. Here’s why we must be intentional and unwavering in our decision:
1. The Ijebu State Dream is Finally in Motion
For decades, we have heard politicians use the creation of Ijebu State as a campaign tool. But OGD took the bold step of sponsoring the Ijebu State Creation Bill in the Senate, and it has already passed its first reading.
This is not the time to switch leadership. “A river that forgets its source will dry up.” If we abandon OGD now, we may lose the momentum needed to make Ijebu State a reality.
2. Securing a Naval Base for Ogun Waterside: A Game-Changer
For years, Ogun Waterside was forgotten, no major federal project, no security, and no development. But thanks to OGD, the construction of the Nigerian Naval Base in Abigi is now ongoing.
- Improved security to protect lives and property.
- Job creation for young people and local businesses.
- More federal presence, leading to further development.
This is the kind of leadership Ogun East deserves, one that delivers real, lasting results.
3. Roads, Infrastructure, and Schools: OGD Gets Things Done
While others only talk, OGD has taken action to improve our roads and schools.
- The Otunba Gbenga Daniel Road in Omu and other road projects, improving transportation for businesses and residents.
- Advocacy for federal roads in Ogun East, ensuring government attention to our infrastructure needs.
- Renovation and construction of school buildings, creating a better learning environment for children.
Would we rather trust sweet talkers who promise roads but never deliver, or a leader who has already built them?
4. Education and ICT: A Visionary Investment in Our Future
The world is moving fast, and OGD has ensured Ogun East is not left behind.
- ICT training for teachers to modernize education.
- Laptops for schools, preparing students for the digital economy.
- Free textbooks, notebooks, and other materials to ease the burden on parents.
A leader who invests in education is a leader who thinks beyond today.
5. Total Health Package: Free Eye Medical Care and Quality Healthcare for All
OGD understands that good health is the foundation of a productive society.
- Free eye medical care, including free eye tests and glasses.
- Medical outreach programs bringing healthcare to rural communities.
- Advocacy for better hospital facilities and medical funding.
- Free cataract and glaucoma surgeries at the prestigious Eye Foundation Hospital, Sagamu, one of the best eye treatment centers in Africa.
This is true leadership—leadership that prioritizes the well-being of the people.
6. Economic Empowerment: Real Support for the People
While others are busy making empty promises, OGD has taken concrete steps to uplift businesses and individuals.
- Interest-free loans for traders, artisans, and small businesses.
- Vocational training for youths, equipping them with skills for financial independence.
- Startup support for entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses.
As the elders say, “A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.” Why take risks with those who have never empowered anyone before?
7. A Leader Who Listens, Cares, and Acts
Many politicians disappear after elections, only returning when they need votes. But OGD is different:
- He holds town hall meetings to engage directly with the people.
- He follows up on projects to ensure completion.
- He stands by his words and delivers on his promises, earning him the well deserved reputation of “Consider it done.”
As our elders say, “A leader who listens is a leader who serves.” OGD has shown that he is for the people and with the people.
Ogun East, Let Us Not Be Deceived, 2027 is Too Important to Gamble With.
The elections may still be some time away, but we must make up our minds now. Political games will soon begin, lies will be told, false promises will be made, and attempts will be made to mislead the people. But let us remain focused.
People of Ogun East, the choice is clear. Let us not allow distractions or deceit to derail our progress. Let us stand firm and do the needful when the time comes. Read More
