Ogun State PDP Chairman Abayomi Tella declares the party battle-ready to defeat the ruling APC in 2027, warning against electoral harassment. New National Chairman Kabiru Turaki’s visit to Abeokuta sparks renewed hope

Abeokuta, Ogun State – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has fired a strong warning shot ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring itself fully prepared to dismantle the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and reclaim power.
State Chairman Abayomi Tella made the bold assertion on Saturday in Abeokuta, moments after welcoming the party’s newly elected National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki. Turaki, who emerged from the PDP’s recent national convention in Ibadan, was in the state capital primarily to consult with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Tella hailed the visit as a game-changer, noting that Ogun became the first state to host the new national leadership post-convention.
“We are all very happy, our hope is rekindled, now we know that the end has come to all the shenanigans of the past in the party. It is a new dawn and we are all happy,” he said.
Emphasizing a people-powered comeback, Tella framed the upcoming polls as a direct showdown between citizens and political machinery.
He insisted that, with widespread support from residents frustrated by the status quo, the PDP is poised to seize leadership.
“So together with the people, we are battle ready for 2027. What happened in 2023 will not repeat itself, what happened during Remo Federal Constituency by-election in August will not repeat itself.
“It’s the way they bring it that they will take it back, I am emphatic about this. We are all indigenes of this state, we are all residents of this state and we have the right to vote and be voted for. You can’t stop people from voting for one party, we won’t allow that to happen in 2027.”
Tella’s fiery remarks underscore the PDP’s resolve to end alleged patterns of harassment and intimidation seen in previous contests, signaling an aggressive push to mobilize grassroots support and challenge APC dominance in the Gateway State.
The national chairman’s swing through Ogun comes amid the PDP’s broader efforts to unify and reposition itself as Nigeria’s leading opposition force heading into 2027. Read More
