The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official Team of the Tournament for the TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles securing three coveted spots despite finishing with a bronze medal.

Champions Senegal and runners-up Morocco dominated the selection, each claiming four players, but the Super Eagles’ representatives—Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Calvin Bassey—earned their places through standout performances that powered Nigeria to third place.

The Best XI, selected by CAF’s Technical Study Group (TSG), features:

  • Goalkeeper: Yassine Bounou (Morocco)
  • Defenders: Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Moussa Niakhaté (Senegal), Calvin Bassey (Nigeria), Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco)

Calvin Bassey was a defensive rock for the Super Eagles, delivering commanding displays, crucial interceptions, and aerial dominance that helped Nigeria reach the semi-finals and secure bronze. His versatility and composure under pressure made him one of the tournament’s top defenders.
