The wives of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Dr Sekinah Oyebamiji, and Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke, have expressed confidence that their respective husbands will emerge victorious in Saturday’s governorship election.
Sekinah spoke shortly after casting her ballot at Ward 9, Unit 003, AUD Primary School, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area, where she commended the conduct of the election and described the voter turnout as impressive.
She said the voting process had been peaceful and orderly, while praising officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission for what she described as their professional conduct.
“The voters’ turnout is quite impressive. The INEC officials are conducting themselves professionally. There are police officers around,” she said, noting that the presence of security personnel had helped maintain order at the polling unit.
“I think the process is good so far. The expectation is that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji will carry the day,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ngozi Adeleke also expressed optimism that her husband would secure re-election after casting his ballot alongside the governor at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede.
She said she was pleased with reports from across the state indicating that voting was proceeding peacefully and urged eligible voters who were yet to vote to visit their polling units and exercise their franchise.
Describing the voting process at the polling unit as peaceful, Ngozi said there was no rancour, fighting or intimidation.
According to her, “voting is a civic responsibility” and she was impressed that the exercise had remained peaceful so far.
The governor’s wife also expressed confidence in Adeleke’s chances of victory, citing his performance in office, while urging voters to come out in large numbers and vote for him without fear or intimidation.
The governorship election is being conducted across the 30 local government areas of Osun State.
Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord, had earlier voted at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, in Ede North Local Government Area.
Voters were also seen at polling units across Ede and neighbouring communities as they turned out to participate in the electoral process.
