Nigerian multiple-award-winning singer, David Adeleke with stage name Davido has received more than N140.3 million from his friends, colleagues and fans on social media as of 11 pm on Wednesday.
Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola tops the list of donors. Other notable billionaires who responded to Davido’s Twitter request are Obi Cubana, flamboyant Lagos monarch – Oba Saheed Elegushi and e-money among other super-wealthy donors.
According to his update on Twitter, the money raised was N140 million more than his target.
The singer had jokingly solicited for funds on his social media pages, saying that anyone who has listened to his hit song should send him cash, after which he posted his account details online.
