The Oyo State Government has dismissed reports alleging that ransom was paid to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in the state, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the government insisted that no ransom was paid at any stage of the operation that led to the victims’ freedom. It urged members of the public to disregard the reports, warning that the spread of unverified information could create unnecessary panic and undermine ongoing security efforts.

According to the government, the successful release of the abducted pupils and teachers was achieved through the coordinated efforts of security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.

The state commended the security personnel and everyone involved in the operation for their commitment and professionalism in ensuring the victims returned home safely.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the government said it would continue to collaborate with security agencies to strengthen surveillance and enhance the protection of schools and communities across the state.
