‘We’re Coming Back Strong’ — PDP Signals Major Push Against APC Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured Nigerians that it is preparing a strong and strategic comeback to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, made the declaration on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television, monitored by NewsHeadline247, amid concerns over recent defections of PDP members to the APC.
Addressing the party’s internal challenges and the way forward, Ememobong described 2026 as a defining year for the opposition party.
“For us in the PDP, 2026 will be a very definitional year. The PDP is coming back strong,” he said.
According to him, the party is confident that its lingering legal disputes will be resolved within the year, creating room for internal stability and renewed political focus.
“The cases at the Court of Appeal, even up to the Supreme Court, will be sorted in 2026,” Ememobong stated.
He explained that while the PDP continues to address its internal crisis, it is equally committed to engaging with issues that directly affect Nigerians and holding the ruling party accountable.
“So what we are doing is, while we are talking about the internal crisis, we’re also fighting about the issues that matter,” he noted.
Ememobong added that the PDP is determined to reclaim its role as a vibrant opposition party by offering credible alternatives to government policies.
“As we are going to be sorting our domestic issues, we are also going to replay the role that an opposition party should play.
“We are going to be holding government accountable. We are discussing issues that affect Nigerians, and we are bringing credible opposition on board,” he said. The remarks come amid intensified political realignments and growing speculation over strategies ahead of the 2027 elections. Read More
