Demonstrators returned to the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday for a second consecutive day, pressing lawmakers to ensure the real-time transmission of election results from polling units to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) IREV portal.

Protesters chanted slogans such as, “We no go gree, we no go gree, Akpabio, pass the bill,” and “Our vote must count,” directing their messages to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and urging the National Assembly to prioritise the bill.

Carrying placards with inscriptions like “Don’t alter the bill, pass it” and “Rigging election is a coup,” demonstrators emphasized the public demand for transparency and timely reporting of election outcomes.

The protests reflect growing civic pressure ahead of the 2027 general elections, with citizens insisting that technological measures like INEC’s IREV system be fully implemented to secure electoral integrity.
