Relocation of Computer Village to Katangowa Soon to Be a Reality — Lagos Govt Assures Traders
The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the long-awaited relocation of Computer Village, Ikeja, to the newly designated ICT and Business Park in Katangowa, Agbado Oke-Odo, bringing to an end years of stalled efforts.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Alausa, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is determined to see the project through as part of its vision for sustainable urban growth.
“The current site, originally a residential area, has been adversely affected by unplanned development, displacing many residents,” Oki explained.

He noted that the Governor’s directive ensures that the new Katangowa ICT Park will meet international standards, designed for a seamless and organized transition.
“The government will provide a 15-hectare site equipped with trailer parks, hotels, banks, a police station, fire station, and other community amenities,” he said.
Arc. Oki called for collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and orderly relocation process to the newly planned environment.
Reacting to the development, Mrs. Abisola Azeez, the Iya Oloja (market leader) of Computer Village, expressed confidence in the plan, noting that her initial concerns had been addressed.
“All my fears have been allayed. I urge the developer to adhere strictly to design specifications and timelines so that the relocation can be completed in its entirety,” she said.
In his remarks, Mr. Sam Ajose, the developer handling the project, thanked the Lagos State Government and market stakeholders for their cooperation.
“A flexible payment plan will be available to traders to make the transition easier,” Ajose assured.
The relocation project, which has been in discussion for over a decade, aims to decongest Ikeja, improve urban aesthetics, and position Lagos as West Africa’s leading tech and innovation hub.
