U-Turn: Senator Solomon Adeola Confirms Thanksgiving Party Will Hold Jan 3 in Ilaro

Senator Solomon Adeola, chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, popularly known as Yayi, has reversed an earlier announcement postponing his annual Thanksgiving and New Year party, confirming that the event will now hold as originally scheduled on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), explained that the earlier statement shifting the event to Sunday, January 4, 2026, was issued in error.

The celebration was initially billed to take place in Ilaro on Saturday before a postponement notice circulated, citing circumstances beyond the senator’s control.

However, in a fresh clarification released on Friday, Adeola reaffirmed that Saturday, January 3, remains the correct date.

“The earlier statement on the postponement was made in error, and the thanksgiving and New Year party will hold as originally planned,” the senator said.

Yayi added that all arrangements for the event in Ilaro remain unchanged, stressing that guests should proceed with their original plans.

“All details of the programme remain the same, and guests are welcome to attend as earlier scheduled,” he stated.

The lawmaker expressed regret over the confusion caused by the earlier announcement and apologised to guests, supporters and well-wishers expected at the event.

He further noted that the thanksgiving remains an open gathering, inviting supporters and members of the public to join him in Ilaro to give thanks to God for the new year.
