The Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council has taken its mobilisation drive for the 2027 presidential election to Oyo State, paying courtesy visits to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade.

The high-powered delegation, led by the council’s Director-General, Senator Abdulazeez Yari, visited the two prominent traditional rulers on Thursday, October 15, 2026, as the All Progressives Congress intensifies preparations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Newsheadline247 understands that the visits form part of the campaign council’s engagement and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election, with the delegation reaching out to influential traditional institutions in the state following the formal inauguration of the presidential campaign structure.

The visits came a day after Tinubu inaugurated the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, charging its members and party leaders to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment as they prepare for the next presidential contest.

At the inauguration on Wednesday, the President said the party was ready to renew its covenant with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 election. He urged members of the council to work together towards their shared objectives while ensuring that campaign activities did not distract the administration from its governance priorities.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the campaign council and called for a common sense of purpose among party leaders as the APC prepares to defend its position in the next election.

The delegation’s visits to the Olubadan and the Alaafin marked an early engagement outside Abuja following the inauguration, bringing the campaign council’s activities to two of Oyo State’s most prominent traditional institutions.

Traditional rulers occupy important cultural and community leadership positions, making engagements with their institutions a feature of political outreach in many parts of the country. However, the courtesy visits do not, in themselves, establish that either monarch has endorsed the President’s re-election bid.

Members of the delegation included Yari; Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the council’s Deputy Coordinator I for the South-West; former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, who is responsible for contact and mobilisation; and former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff.

Also on the team were the APC’s Oyo State governorship candidate, Senator Sarafadeen Ali, and the President’s Special Adviser on Public Communication, Sunday Dare, among other party figures.

The campaign council’s early engagements signal the start of its wider mobilisation activities as political parties and their leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

With the visits to the Olubadan and the Alaafin, the council has brought its outreach to Oyo State, where the APC will seek to consolidate its political relationships and engage key stakeholders as preparations for the election gather pace.
