Tinubu Celebrates Oyedepo at 72, Hails Impact on Education
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated the founder and Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, on his 72nd birthday, describing the cleric as a prominent voice on faith, leadership, integrity, education and human development.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Oyedepo for decades of ministry and his contributions to education, leadership development and human-capital development.
The President specifically highlighted the contributions of Covenant University and Landmark University, noting that the institutions had created platforms for academic excellence, leadership development, entrepreneurship and innovation.
“Bishop Oyedepo’s influence extends beyond the pulpit into education, publishing, leadership development and humanitarian service, with the Living Faith Church maintaining a significant international presence across Africa and other parts of the world,” Tinubu said.
The President said that after more than four decades of ministry, Oyedepo had established himself as a prominent Nigerian voice whose teachings and writings on faith, leadership, integrity, education and human development have reached audiences across Nigeria, Africa and beyond.
“Bishop David Oyedepo has devoted decades to preaching faith, promoting integrity and encouraging excellence, while investing substantially in education and the development of human capacity. His commitment to building lives, institutions and communities has given his ministry a significant national and international footprint,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu also commended the cleric for social-development initiatives linked to his ministry, including schools, healthcare facilities and humanitarian interventions.
The President further acknowledged the work of the David Oyedepo Foundation, particularly its support for education and people in need.
“I especially salute Bishop Oyedepo for the social-development initiatives, including schools, healthcare facilities, and humanitarian interventions, associated with his ministry and the David Oyedepo Foundation’s support for education and people in need,” he said.
According to Tinubu, Oyedepo’s contributions have extended beyond religious activities, with his institutions and initiatives playing roles in education, skills development and community advancement.
The President wished the bishop continued wisdom, strength and good health as he marks his 72nd birthday and continues his work in the areas of faith, education, morality and human development.
Tinubu also prayed for divine strength and renewed grace for the cleric, asking Almighty God to grant him wisdom and strength as he advances what he described as the causes of faith, education, morality and human development.
Oyedepo, who founded the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, has remained one of Nigeria’s prominent Christian figures, with the church operating a network of congregations and institutions in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
The birthday message from the President comes as the cleric marks another milestone in a ministry that has expanded from its religious activities into education, publishing, humanitarian intervention and other areas of social development.
