President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State, describing the victory as a strong validation of his visionary, disciplined, and people-focused leadership.
In a statement released on Sunday, President Tinubu said Soludo’s resounding victory at the polls reflected the confidence of the Anambra people in his leadership and the remarkable progress recorded under his administration.
“Governor Soludo’s success at the polls is a reflection of the confidence the people of Anambra have in his leadership and the significant progress made under his administration,” the President said.
Tinubu, who described Soludo as a “leader of ideas and integrity,” commended his ability to apply academic principles to practical governance, noting that he has brought discipline, transparency, and innovation to public service.
“The former Central Bank governor has continued to demonstrate that knowledge is power, applying academic principles in practical governance to promote accountability, transparency, and prudent management of public resources,” Tinubu stated.
The President recalled his visit to Anambra in May 2025, where he inaugurated several projects executed by the Soludo administration. He praised what he described as the “good thinking” and strategic planning behind the projects, noting that the experience left a lasting impression on him.
“I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation,” he said.
While congratulating the governor, Tinubu urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents in the interest of peace, unity, and continued progress in Anambra State.
He also assured the governor of the federal government’s continued support and expressed optimism about stronger collaboration between Abuja and Awka for the state’s development.
President Tinubu commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and credible election, describing the exercise as evidence of Nigeria’s deepening democracy.
He lauded the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and his team for the credible conduct of the polls, urging them to sustain and build upon the standards achieved.
“The victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA) in the election again demonstrates the vitality of our political system and the fact that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied,” Tinubu added.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening democracy, promoting inclusive governance, and ensuring credible elections across the federation.
“We will continue to deepen Nigeria’s democracy through credible elections and inclusive governance,” Tinubu assured.
Governor Soludo, who won re-election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a landslide victory in the 2025 Anambra governorship election, sweeping all 21 local government areas of the state. Read More
