Dele Alake, the special adviser to the president on special duties, communication, and strategy, has announced that President Bola Tinubu will be delivering a national address via broadcast today.
Alake announced that the address will be broadcasted on Monday at 7pm.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a broadcast to the nation on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 7pm,” he said.
“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”
The broadcast may be related to the rising inflation and economic difficulties resulting from the elimination of petrol subsidies.
During a recent meeting with youth leaders from across the country who belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu expressed empathy towards the struggles of citizens. He reassured them that although times are tough, there is hope for a brighter future. “prosperous, equitable and inclusive economy”.
“I can assure you that I understand the pains you are going through. It is not easy to get out of the monster of over 40 years called fuel subsidy,” he said.
During another instance, the president ensured that the federal government is taking steps to mitigate the impact of removing petrol subsidies on the general public.
“We shall without delay cushion the pains being experienced by our people as a result of these measures through a number of well targeted interventions aimed at giving adequate relief and succour to a great number of our long- suffering citizens,” Tinubu said.
