Troops Capture ISWAP Suspects, Eliminate Bandit, Seize Weapons in Plateau Operations
Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) troops have detained two suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) members, killed a bandit, and confiscated arms in multiple operations across Plateau State, according to a statement released Saturday in Jos by OPSH spokesperson Major Samson Zakhom.
On April 11, 2025, troops arrested Abdulkadir Dalhatu and Ubaidu Hassan, both 25, in an intelligence-driven raid in Yelwa, Shendam LGA. The suspects, posing as tailors, were allegedly part of an ISWAP cell tasked with establishing bases in Plateau and Bauchi States. “They used their tailoring business as a front to advance ISWAP’s agenda,” Zakhom said. The duo is under interrogation.
That same day, OPSH Sector 4 raided a hideout in Mazat Village, Barkin Ladi LGA. The main suspect fled, but troops recovered an AK-47 rifle (registration 23402) and a loaded magazine. Efforts to capture the suspect continue.
On April 12, Sector 2 troops ambushed bandits along Pinau-Bangalala Road in Wase LGA, neutralizing one and recovering a locally made pistol. Others fled, possibly injured.
Zakhom credited the operations’ success to community cooperation and reliable intelligence, reaffirming OPSH’s commitment to rooting out terrorists and criminals disrupting peace in the region. Read More
