Pundits who are familiar with the political timeline of the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State have maintained that Engineer Tunji Akinosi appears to be the only Federal House of Representatives candidate in the federal constituency for the 2023 election since the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared the campaign for the 2023 election open.

Akinosi, a revered key stakeholder in his local government who is widely addressed as ire witiwiti by adherent supporters, is the house of rep candidate of the All Progressives Candidate, APC, in the Ado-Odo/Ota for the 2023 election.

Recently, he disclosed that the ambition he has had over the years for the rapid physical and human development of his constituency is the key factor fuelling his burning desire to ultimately represent and selflessly serve his people in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Newsheadline247 understands that, aside from being a popular grassroots personality who has selflessly served his community on different fronts, Akinosi is set all out for an unprecedented representation of his constituency in the green chamber of the National Assembly.

“Despite his popularity and acceptance, Tunji Akinosi has not left any stone unturned with his robust campaign for himself and his party while assuring the people of a better dimension of representation.

“He has strategically campaigned in several parts of all the 16 wards of the local government and he is not showing any sign of stopping soon,” newsheadline247 gathered.

It was learnt that Akinosi’s tactical campaign activities have eclipsed the activities of his opponents, particularly, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle otherwise known as Banana in political and social circles.

Adekunle is the house of rep candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ado-Odo/Ota local government.

It was gathered that the campaign activities of Adekunle who is currently in a legal battle with fellow party chieftain, Hon. Kazeem Akorede Dawod over alleged improper process of his (Banana) emergence as the candidate of the party has not been as deep as expected.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had recently fixed Monday, March 13, 2023, for the hearing of the suit challenging the alleged imposition of Adekunle for the House of Representatives seat in Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Ogun State.

No doubt, the ongoing court case over the authentic candidate of the PDP has grounded Banana’s campaign, while contestants from other various political parties have not been intense with their campaigns, which, perhaps, leaves Akinosi as the only choice of the people aside from his track records and chains of unblemished feats.

“The lingering legal tussle has consequently put Banana’s campaign activities at its lowest ebb as he is not certain of the outcome of the court case. And perhaps, his house of rep dream would be shattered should the court verdict eventually not come in his favour,” a resident familiar with the narratives said.

Apart from this, those in the know who spoke about the popularity of all contestants agreed that none of the candidates from other parties can match the acceptance of Akinosi in the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency

Akinosi, who was until now the former commissioner for forestry in Ogun State, recently spoke about his plans for his constituency. “My going into the National Assembly is to assist the government, both at the federal and state levels and to do what my people want. The people cannot differentiate between the two.

“We will work to ensure that the state government gets the money they have spent on federal roads in the state back and that would enable us to be able to assist our people and do more roads,” he said.

Speaking further on infrastructural development, Akinosi pledged to ensure that all federal roads, which have over the years impeded the development of the constituency, are fixed.

“One thing that should be brought to bear on the people, which we have not seen, is we have a federal constituency where we have almost 80% of the roads being federal and we need the attention of the Federal Government more here and I think that we will get that done more in lawmaking than in the executive. That is why I decided to go for lawmaking,” he said.
