The Yoruba Tennis Club hosted the Olota of Otta, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, at a grand reception where Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Lateef Olufemi Okunnu praised the monarch’s leadership and commitment to Yoruba cultural heritage.

Yoruba Tennis Club Honours Olota of Otta, Okunnu Hails Monarch’s Leadership

The Yoruba Tennis Club on Thursday hosted the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, Olofin Apesin Olode), at a grand reception attended by prominent traditional rulers, professionals and political figures.

The visit began at the residence of the Chairman of the Club’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Lateef Olufemi Okunnu, SAN, CON, where the monarch was received before proceeding to the club for the reception. Details of the visit were contained in a statement issued by the Principal Secretary to the Olota, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, and made available to NewsHeadline247 on Friday.

Speaking during the reception, Okunnu described the Olota as an outstanding traditional ruler whose reign has enhanced the prestige and dignity of the ancient throne.

He commended the monarch’s commitment to preserving and promoting Yoruba cultural heritage while recalling the contributions of past Olotas, particularly the late HRM Oba T.T. Dada, to the development of Yorubaland.

Okunnu also expressed appreciation for the monarch’s efforts in sustaining those legacies and urged him to continue providing exemplary leadership and contributing to the advancement of Yorubaland and Nigeria’s traditional institution.

The Chairman of the Yoruba Tennis Club, Engr. Olawumi Gasper, formally welcomed the monarch and his entourage alongside other distinguished members of the club. The event featured traditional courtesies and goodwill as eminent personalities gathered to honour the royal father.

Among those who accompanied the Olota were the Onitele of Itele-Otta, His Royal Majesty Oba Ademola Eletu Ashorota; the Oluwo Itoki of Otta, High Chief Ganiyu Dada; the Lisa of Otta, High Chief Adedayo Akindele Eleku; the Bashorun of Otta, High Chief Olakunle Muftau Salako; the Otun Maiyegun of Otta, Aare Ayodele Bankole; the Aare Bobajiro of Otta, Aare Rotimi Ishola; Commissioner of Police, Alagbon, Lagos, Aremo CP Bola Ojugbele; and the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ogun West Senatorial District, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele.
