A former Manchester United striker, Dimitar Berbatov has said that manager Jose Mourinho, or midfielder, Paul Pogba, should not leave the club.
Mourinho and Pogba have endured a strained relationship over the past campaign with the France international heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the summer.
Berbatov believes that friction between players and a manager at a big club, is normal.
When asked if Mourinho or Pogba should leave United, the ex-Bulgarian international, however, said that doesn’t have to be the case.
“Neither of them should go, it’s all just speculation and it’s not helping. The focus needs to change to football there,” Berbatov told Mirror Football.
“At a big club there are always going to be issues and you will always have players with big egos who want to win and sometimes this can create friction between the players or with the manager but it’s normal in football clubs especially a big successful club.
“When you are a grown up man you know how to deal with a situation like this, but if those outside the club are constantly talking about it and coming up with stories then it’s not helping anyone.
“I’m far away from the team so I’m just reading what everyone else is reading, I don’t have the inside word but even if there is something going on then the people involved should know how to deal with it and that’s the end of it.
“We are all humans, everyone makes mistakes, but the focus should be on the field,” he said.
