Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, is in the lead ahead of other contestants in the Saturday governorship election in the state.
This is according to the results that were announced by the Local Government collation officers at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s collation centre in Akure early Sunday morning.
Akeredolu won in 12 LGAs while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, won three.
The Deputy Governor and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, is yet to win any.
The results showed that Akeredolu has so far garnered 229,309 votes while Jegede is trailing with 170,138 votes.
Ajayi who dumped APC for PDP and later crossed over to the ZLP is in a distant third with 53,422 votes.
A breakdown of the figures shows that the APC candidate is leading his closest rival, Jegede, with 59,171 votes.
