“I assure all the people and residents of this local government, that if nominated and if elected, I shall continue to serve them to the best of my ability”.
A former Ogun State lawmaker, Hon Aina Nurudeen Akinpelu on Friday formally declared and submitted his candidacy to vie for the office of the Chairman of the nation’s most industrialised hub – Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
Akinpelu alongside his mammoth supporters thronged the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat of the local government along Idiroko road in Ota to declare his intention.
He was also accompanied by all members of the executive of his ward – Ota ward 1.
Akinpelu, after recognizing all stakeholders and multiple groups of supporters said afterwards he was seeking the nomination “with all humility, sense of responsibility and an unquestionable desire to serve and protect the general interest of the local government.”
Groups of supporters had clubbed together to print and distributed records of some of the unprecedented achievements of Akinpelu as a two-term Ogun lawmaker.
Speaking to newsheadline247 by the side during the event, Akinpelu said, “I assure all the people and residents of this local government, that if nominated and if elected, I shall continue to serve them to the best of my ability”.
“My records as a member of the state assembly speaks volumes of my intention to transform this local government, which is the commercial nerve of the state, and make it one the best LGs, not just in Ogun State, but in the country as a whole,” Akinpelu added.
In 2011, Aina Nurudeen Akinpelu, an astute barrister at law, amidst stiff oppositions and against all odds grabbed the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) State Assembly ticket and subsequently roundly defeated the candidate of the hard to crack Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.
The stage was set again in 2015, he effortlessly grabbed the APC assembly ticket due to unblemished chains of achievements recorded in his first term. He went again to floor the candidate of the PDP to clinch his second victory at the poll.
“Most of the projects executed from his office as a member of the state house of assembly were self-financed,” one of his aides told our reporter who was on ground at the party secretariat during the declaration ceremony.
“One thing is for sure, Aina Nurudeen Akinpelu would like to be the next Chairman of Ado-Odo/ Ota local government with one sole desire of setting a standard and raising the bar in the history of administration of the LG,” the aide added.
Among those who have already declared their intention to stand are Engr Odunlami Muritala Oladapo, Kazeem Aina, Hon Kazeem Salako, relative of the present Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele and publisher of community-based news platform, Voice of Awori, Seyi Oyetoro, popularly known as ‘humble prince of courage’.
