Nigeria’s political generalissimo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, after defeating fellow aspirants, which include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Rotimi Amaechi among others in a landslide victory at the party’s presidential primary election at Eagle Square, Abuja.
The former Lagos governor garnered a total of 1,271 votes to roundly defeat all other contestants.
Rotimi Amaechi came second with 316 votes, Yemi Osinbajo came third with 235 votes while Senate President Ahmed Lawan scored 152 votes to claim the fourth position at the end of the race.
Others in the race, Yahaya Bello – 47 votes, Ogbonaya Onu-1 vote, Ahmed Rufai Sanni- 4 votes
Candidates with 0 votes include Pastor Tunde Bakare, Rochas Okorocha, Ikeobasi Mokelu and Tein Jack-Rich
Tinubu had during the pre-election speech yesterday at the venue of the election said he wanted the party’s presidential ticket because he had what it takes to lead the nation to a brighter future adding that he had the experience, having led Lagos to being the fifth largest economy in Africa today.
