“…Politics is not done by tribe. It is not done by region. It is not a regional business. I support my party, APC.”
Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu has dispelled calls for an “Igbo presidency,” saying he is a loyal supporter of his party, the All Progressives Congress, and its presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
“First of all, there is nothing like Igbo presidency,” Kalu, a former governor of Abia State declared. “There can only be a president of Nigeria of Igbo extraction.”
He explained, “I belong to a political party. As you know, party politics whether it is Canada, the U.S., or London, party supremacy and loyalty is the first and last to any man that belongs to a political party.”
Kalu, in an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday, said “I have no regret telling you that this business (politics) is not done by tribe. It is not done by region. It is not a regional business. I support my party, APC.”
The South-East region has not produced a president since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999.
