Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele got some ‘hot slaps’ for woeful performance in the National Assembly
A member of the Federal House of Representatives got a public disgrace of his life when he visited his constituency last Sunday 21st of January 2018.
Report has it that the lawmaker, Hon Jimoh Ojugbele who represents Ado-Odo/Ota federal constituency of Ogun State in the lower chamber of the National Assembly got some ‘hot slaps’ from a party member who is obviously angry with the lawmaker with his ‘woeful performance’ in the National Assembly.
According to reports monitored on Yemoja News NG, Hon Ojugbele had attended a party function at the Ota Sports Center along Ilo-Awela road when he was accosted by some youths who bombarded him with questions relating to his abysmal performance in the National Assembly, and why he doesn’t visit his constituent.
“You see, Hon Ojugbele lives in Isolo (Lagos) and barely visit his local government. So, there had been a groundswell of anger against him by almost everybody in the local government.
On this particular day, some youths saw Hon Ojugbele at the event; they went to him and sought explanations. Instead of talking to the youths, Hon Ojugbele shunned them and walked away. That was when one of the guys grabbed him by the cloth and gave him a hot slap”. A source who witnessed the brouhaha informed.
The source added that in the ensuing melee, Hon Ojugbele received some more beatings while his clothes were torn to pieces’
We were told that it took the intervention of other party leaders before the federal lawmaker was rescued, after which he was driven out of the venue.
Hon Jimoh Ojugbele, an All Progressive Congress (APC) had before now been receiving barrages of criticism for not saying ‘a single word’ on the floor of the house since he got to the chamber over two years ago.
A former state lawmaker, Hon Fasinu Sewedo who is one of Hon Ojugbele’s constituent expressed his frustration on the performance of Ojugbele last week when he lamented on his facebook wall with these words “My own, Hon Jimoh Ohjugbele, Haba, politics is not about ATM or servicing engine. Your voice, your voice, quality representation”.
Also, a popular politician from the same constituency, Hon Ola Bello commented that “you can’t give what you don’t have hmmmm, when are we going to get there”.
Interestingly, sources close to Hon Ojugbele revealed that he is planning to contest for the Ogun West senatorial seat in 2019, banking on his rosy relationship with Governor Ibikunle Amosun to get him the ticket.
But some APC party leaders say Hon Ojugbele is living in fool’s paradise and should forget contesting any election in the nearest future.
