Lagos Councilor, Taiwo Oyekan To Commence N20m Empowerment for Lagos Island Residents
Oyekan’s action plans have received commendations from community leaders, party chieftains, and stakeholders throughout the state
In an ongoing effort to improve the standard of living for residents in Nigeria’s premier local government area, Hon. Prince Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan has announced plans to distribute Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000) to support vulnerable groups, including widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, petty traders, artisans, and technicians.
The Deputy Leader of the Lagos Island Local Government Legislative Arm also plans to donate a patrol vehicle to the Nigeria Police Force to enhance security on the island. Additionally, hundreds of bags of rice and filled gas cylinders will be included in the distribution.
This mega-empowerment program is scheduled for 2024. According to Hon. Oyekan, these socio-economic initiatives aim to complement the efforts of both state and federal governments in alleviating poverty and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
“I am passionate about uplifting the vulnerable in our communities and will not relent. We must instil hope in the people and strive to make the world a better place,” he stated.
It is worth noting that the esteemed council legislator previously disbursed N10 million in March and N5 million in May to support underprivileged residents and small-scale business owners, thereby promoting local economic development and improving living standards.
In December 2023, a utility bus was presented to the Isale-Eko Community Security Team (Folumo) as part of an initiative to enhance community policing efforts.
