“A Rare act of humanity” – Parent lauds Taiwo Oyekan Scholarship Scheme, Expresses Appreciation

Taiwo Oyekan Scholarship Scheme is unique and has not been previously experienced in the local government area or, by extension, in Lagos State

A parent from the Popo Aguda/Campos (Igbosere Street) community has praised the Taiwo Oyekan Scholarship Scheme on Lagos Island, describing the initiative as a “rare act of humanity.”

Hon. Taiwo Oyekan, a councillor representing Ward C1 in the legislative arm of the Lagos Island Local Government Area, has made selfless service to humanity his top priority for his constituency and beyond. His remarkable contributions to both human and physical development in the local government area have garnered commendations from key stakeholders and individuals from various backgrounds.

Among his many initiatives is the Taiwo Oyekan Scholarship Scheme, a platform that has helped numerous underprivileged students pursue their academic aspirations.

One beneficiary of the scheme, Miss Karimot Yusuf, received one hundred thousand naira (₦100,000) as an education support fund, along with several learning tools, after she emerged as the overall best in a debate competition during the 2022 free summer coaching program in the local government. This debate competition was organized to enhance students’ knowledge of career choices and current affairs.

In appreciation of Oyekan’s generosity, Karimot’s father, Mr. Yusuf, expressed his deep gratitude, stating that the support would undoubtedly propel his daughter further in her educational journey.

Mr. Yusuf also noted that the Taiwo Oyekan Scholarship Scheme is unique and has not been previously experienced in the local government area or, by extension, in Lagos State. More

Oyekan is well-known for his empowerment programs across Lagos Island. Residents are eagerly looking forward to benefiting from his next project, a N20 million empowerment program on a date that is yet to be announced.
