Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Inspects Ijaliye-Ijako Culvert Project, Pledges More Development
Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria – Hon. Wasiu Lawal, the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, inspected the ongoing 3.0m by 1.5m box culvert project at Oju-Odo in the Ijaliye-Ijako area of the Council on Sunday. The project aims to address severe erosion that has disrupted movement and commercial activities in the community.
Guided by project consultant Engineer Abiodun Abiola, Chairman Lawal assessed the site, which has been heavily impacted by erosion.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress, Lawal urged the team to accelerate construction to minimize inconvenience for residents. He emphasized the culvert’s significance, noting that the road serves as a vital link for multiple communities and supports commercial activities.
“This project is critical for the people of Ijaliye-Ijako due to the road’s economic importance. Our administration is committed to driving significant infrastructure improvements across the council,” Lawal stated.

Engr. Abiola highlighted the culvert as an effective solution to control the area’s severe erosion. “The chairman’s decision to undertake this project is a game-changer for tackling the erosion that has hindered movement and trade. We are on track to complete the culvert before the peak rainy season, ensuring high-quality delivery,” he assured.
The Oju-Odo Bridge, located near the abattoir at Koro Market in Ijaliye-Ijako, connects Ijako to Oju-Ore along Idiroko Road. Primarily used by motorcyclists due to the road’s poor condition, the route is a key commercial artery.
Toyin Ogunleye, an ex-officio member of the Ijaliye Community Development Association, expressed gratitude to Chairman Lawal for addressing the community’s long-standing needs. “For years, we sought government intervention without success. Hon. Wasiu Lawal has brought hope to our community, and we look forward to more transformative projects under his leadership,” Ogunleye said.
