“They Were Never With Us” — PDP Disowns Alleged Defectors to APC in Ado-Odo/Ota LG

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government has firmly disassociated itself from a group of individuals recently welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating unequivocally that the supposed defectors were never members of the party.

This follows the newsheadline247 report of the Friday event where the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, received a large number of alleged former PDP members into the APC. Hon. Wasiu described the occasion as a “historic homecoming” and a testament to “political unity and progress” within the local government.

Held within the heart of the local government, the event drew attention from across various wards and featured public declarations of loyalty to the APC by individuals claimed to be returning from the opposition PDP.

However, the PDP has swiftly debunked these claims. In a press statement issued by the Secretary of the Ado-Odo/Ota PDP chapter, Badmus Abdulahi Tunde, the party described the claim as “false” and accused the individuals involved of staging a misleading political stunt.

“We wish to state categorically and for the record that the individuals mentioned in the said publication are not members of the PDP in Ado-Odo/Ota local government chapter,” the statement read.

“Since we assumed office last year, they have neither attended any of our 16 ward meetings nor have their names appeared in any official party register or attendance record.”

The statement, which was in response to our report on the defection, alleged that the so-called defectors were never recognized members of the PDP and had no verifiable affiliation with the party.

“Only registered and verifiable members are recognized as bona fide members of the PDP,” Badmus stated. “These individuals are merely seeking to gain public attention by falsely associating themselves with our great party.”

He further described the move as a “well-known political gimmick” and called on the public and media outlets to disregard the claims. According to him, the PDP remains focused on its broader mission of political reform in Ogun State.

“Our focus remains unwavering to rescue the people of Ogun State in 2027 from the grip of a failed ruling All Promised Cancelled (APC) party that has subjected the people, including civil servants, to untold hardship and neglect,” the statement concluded.

RE: FALSE CLAIM OF DEFECTION BY NON-MEMBERS OF PDP IN ADO-ODO/OTA LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Our attention has been drawn to a recent publication by an online news outlet (Newsheadline247* claiming that some individuals have decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

We wish to state categorically and for the record that the individuals mentioned in the said publication are not members of the PDP in Ado-Odo/Ota local government chapter . Since we assumed office last year, they have neither attended any of our 16 ward meetings nor have their names appeared in any official party register or attendance record.

While we recognize that many people may align with or support our party from a distance, only registered and verifiable members are recognized as bona fide members of the PDP. As the Secretary of the PDP in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, I can confidently affirm that these individuals are merely seeking to gain public attention by falsely associating themselves with our great party.

This is a well-known political gimmick, and we urge the public and media to disregard such misinformation. These individuals were never members of our party.

As a party, our focus remains unwavering to rescue the people of Ogun State in 2027 from the grip of a failed ruling All Promised Cancelled (APC) party that has subjected the people, including civil servants to untold hardship and neglect.

We remain committed to the mission of rebuilding and restoring hope to the good people of Ogun State.

Signed:
Badmus Abdulahi Tunde
Secretary, PDP Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government
