Kun Khalifat FC have called on the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to guarantee the safety of players and officials following an alleged attack on the club’s technical adviser, Obinna Uzoho, at Pantami Stadium in Gombe State.

The Owerri-based club made the appeal after holding Doma United to a 1-1 draw at the stadium on Saturday, with reports indicating that Uzoho was attacked after the encounter.

Reacting to graphic footage circulating on social media that reportedly showed Uzoho’s injuries, Kun Khalifat expressed frustration over what it described as recurring safety concerns during away matches.

The club lamented that securing points on the road appeared to expose its players and officials to danger, urging league authorities to intervene.

“When we lose at home, we lose in peace. But whenever we win away or pick a point against the home team, our lives will be in the hands of God. This is so, so unacceptable,” the club said.

Kun Khalifat warned that the situation could not continue, calling on the NPFL to take urgent steps to protect participants in the league.

“Again, we can’t continue like this. NPFL, please protect our lives,” the club added.

The alleged incident has renewed concerns over the safety of players and club officials during away fixtures, particularly after matches involving contentious results.

Kun Khalifat’s appeal places pressure on the NPFL to address the reported incident and ensure that players, coaches and other team officials can fulfil their league commitments without fear for their safety.
