Isese Day 2025: Lagos, Ogun Declare August 20 Public Holiday for Celebration
The governments of Lagos and Ogun States have officially declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as a public holiday in honor of the annual Isese Day celebration.
Isese Day, dedicated to promoting and preserving Yoruba traditional religion and culture, was first recognised as a public holiday in 2023 after both states’ Houses of Assembly passed motions endorsing the observance. The declaration was subsequently approved by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
