The Ogun State PDP, led by Chief Abayomi Tella, has disowned the endorsement of Dr. Gbenga Hashim’s 2027 Presidential Agenda by a group known as the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), describing it as unauthorised, invalid, and misleading

Ogun PDP Disowns ‘Endorsement’ of Gbenga Hashim’s 2027 Presidential Agenda — Says Move Unauthorised, Misleading
The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vehemently disowned and condemned the purported endorsement of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim’s 2027 Presidential Agenda by a group claiming to be party stakeholders under the banner of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM).
The GHSM, in a press conference held in Ota on Friday, had announced its support for Dr. Hashim, describing him as the party’s “preferred presidential candidate” ahead of the 2027 elections — a claim that has now drawn strong condemnation from the state leadership of the PDP.
In a swift reaction, Chief Abayomi Tella, Chairman of the Ogun State PDP, categorically distanced the party from the so-called endorsement, stressing that it was neither approved nor recognised by any legitimate structure of the party in the state.
“We wish to make it abundantly clear that the Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party did not, and will not, endorse any presidential aspirant at this stage,” Chief Tella declared.
“The said endorsement by the so-called Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement is entirely unknown to the leadership and structure of our party in Ogun State.”
Chief Tella further clarified that the Ogun State PDP’s current focus is on preparations for the party’s forthcoming National Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State, and not on the endorsement of any presidential hopeful.
“Our attention, as a responsible political structure, is currently directed towards strengthening our internal cohesion and preparing for the national convention. Any claim suggesting otherwise or implying our endorsement of any aspirant is false, misleading, and should be disregarded by the public,” the PDP Chairman added.
He maintained that no organ of the party — at the state, local government, or ward level — sanctioned such endorsement, warning that any individual or group making such claims was acting without the party’s consent or authority.
The statement further described the purported endorsement as “unauthorised, unilateral, and invalid,” adding that it does not represent the position of the Ogun State PDP.
Chief Tella urged all PDP members across Ogun State to remain united, disciplined, and focused as the party prepares for its national activities, assuring that all official communications on matters of political direction will come directly from the recognised party leadership.
“The Ogun State PDP hereby declares that the endorsement of Dr. Gbenga Hashim’s Presidential Agenda by any group or individuals is not recognised, approved, or supported by the state leadership of the party,” Tella stated.
