Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has accused U.S. President Donald Trump of lying to the world by alleging a Christian genocide in Nigeria without providing any evidence to support the claim

“Country of Particular Concern” – Trump Lied to the World About Christian Genocide in Nigeria, Says Falana

Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has accused United States President Donald Trump of lying to the global community over his recent claim of a so-called “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.

Falana made the statement on Wednesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme monitored by Newsheadline247.

The outspoken lawyer was reacting to President Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged attacks on Christians, as well as his threat to authorise U.S. military action against Nigeria if such killings “continue.”

“Mr Trump doesn’t regard us as anything at all — Nigeria and South Africa. For him, we are either a sh*thole country or a disgraceful country,” Falana said.

Speaking firmly, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria dismissed Trump’s allegations as baseless and reckless, insisting there was no evidence to support the claim of a systematic Christian genocide in Nigeria.

“I’m going to look at this from a human rights perspective. I’m not a diplomat. My position is that Mr Trump has lied to the whole world by alleging Christian genocide in Nigeria without any evidence to back it up,” Falana added.

Trump’s comments have drawn widespread criticism from local and international observers, who described them as inflammatory and potentially damaging to U.S.–Nigeria relations.

Falana urged the Nigerian government to respond with factual clarity rather than silence, stressing that such “false narratives” could embolden external interference and misrepresent the country’s internal security challenges. Read More
