Tinubu Touches Down in UAE for Global Sustainability Summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) summit, a major global forum focused on sustainable development and future-ready solutions.
The President touched down in Abu Dhabi at about 11:00 p.m. local time and was warmly received by the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, marking the commencement of his official engagement at the high-level event.
Confirming the development, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Tinubu is attending the summit at the invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to Onanuga, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an annual global gathering that brings together world leaders, policymakers, business executives and innovators to deliberate on pathways to sustainable development.
This year’s summit is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” reflecting a focus on integrated solutions across energy, climate action, technology, food security and economic growth.
The forum is expected to provide Nigeria with opportunities to deepen international partnerships, attract investment, and showcase its commitment to climate action, energy transition and sustainable economic reforms under the Tinubu administration.
President Tinubu’s UAE trip comes weeks after he departed Nigeria on December 28, leaving Lagos for what the Presidency described as an end-of-year break in Europe.
During the trip, the President was last week sighted in France, where he held talks with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, further underlining Nigeria’s ongoing diplomatic engagements. According to presidential sources, President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the week-long summit, following the conclusion of his scheduled engagements in Abu Dhabi
