Former Rivers Governor Peter Odili has assured Governor Siminalayi Fubara of total support amid the political crisis in Rivers State
“Your People Are With You” – Rivers Crisis: Odili Tells Fubara
Former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili, has thrown his weight behind Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing political tension rocking the oil-rich state.
Odili gave the assurance on Tuesday during a public event in Port Harcourt, where he urged the governor to remain steadfast, assuring him of the unwavering support of the people of Rivers State.
According to the former governor, Rivers people have clearly identified Fubara as their political leader and are prepared to stand with him through the current political turbulence.
“Your people are with you, and they have asked me to tell you that you are the political leader of Rivers State,” Odili said.
He added, “Rivers people said that wherever you go, we will go with you. Wherever you stand, we will stand with you. You are standing on firm ground. Stand there and hold on to God.”
Odili’s public endorsement comes against the backdrop of a renewed political face-off between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, a development that has continued to dominate political discourse in the state.
The crisis, which has polarised political stakeholders, has sparked concerns over governance stability in Rivers State, with analysts closely watching how the power tussle will reshape the state’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
Odili’s intervention is widely seen as a morale booster for Governor Fubara and a significant signal to political actors regarding where grassroots loyalty currently lies in the state.
