The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, in a dramatic political gathering that also witnessed the defection of two senators and three members of the House of Representatives from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The endorsement took place at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, during a reception organised for the defecting lawmakers.

‘PDP, Accord Now Carcasses’ — Oyetola
Addressing party faithful, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, declared that the PDP and Accord Party in Osun had lost political relevance.

“PDP and Accord are now dead. They are confused, and the reason is that both parties combined are now carcasses. We will vote in 2026 and win,” he said confidently.

Oyetola defended the party’s endorsement of Tinubu, arguing that the president’s economic reforms had repositioned Nigeria. According to him, foreign exchange stability has improved, fuel importation has reduced due to strengthened local refining capacity, and over $50 billion in investment commitments signal renewed global confidence. He also cited the new ₦70,000 minimum wage and the expansion of student loan access to more than 200,000 beneficiaries as milestones of the administration.

“We proudly and confidently endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027 to consolidate these gains and secure lasting prosperity,” Oyetola stated.

‘Enough of Dancing’ — APC Guber Candidate
The APC governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, called for unity ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

“As we look toward the 2026 and 2027 elections, unity within our ranks is non-negotiable,” he said, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation.

Addressing the defectors, Oyebamiji added: “Your decision to formally join us today reinforces the momentum we are building. In Osun, enough of dancing; it is time to work.”
Wave of Defections Strengthens APC
Among the defectors welcomed into the APC were Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), alongside Reps Oluwole Oke, Sanya Omirin, and Taofeek Ajilesoro.

Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal assured both old and new members of equal treatment, stressing the party’s resolve to reclaim the state in 2026.

The motion endorsing Tinubu’s second term was moved by Chief Sola Akinwumi and seconded by Chief Shuib Oyedokun, while APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola, who presided over the programme, reiterated that the party was positioned to dominate future elections in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Senator Fadahunsi pledged loyalty to the APC and vowed to work toward securing victory in the 2026 Osun governorship race and Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

With high-profile defections and a strong endorsement message, the Osun APC appears to be consolidating its base ahead of the next electoral cycle.
