The Yayi Diaspora Support Group has kicked off a coordinated international mobilisation drive in support of the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the forthcoming election in Ogun State.
The initiative was unveiled after the group’s inaugural virtual strategy meeting held on March 14, 2026, bringing together supporters from the United States and Canada to chart a path for global engagement.
Organisers said discussions at the meeting centred on strengthening diaspora participation, boosting campaign visibility, and aligning international advocacy with grassroots political efforts within Ogun State.
Participants underscored the critical role of Nigerians in the diaspora in mobilising support, amplifying campaign messaging across digital platforms, and connecting overseas backers with local voters.
The group further disclosed that a formal letter of support had been delivered to and acknowledged by Senator Adeola, signalling early coordination with the broader campaign structure.
As part of its forward strategy, the group is considering hosting the senator in North America for a series of engagements, including town hall meetings, stakeholder dinners, and community interactions aimed at deepening support.
An executive committee has been constituted to steer its activities, with Ademola Adejobi serving as coordinator, alongside Adegboyega Salau as deputy coordinator, Oluwaseyi Odeyemi as treasurer, and Adeboye Adejobi as secretary.
Meanwhile, the group distanced itself from recent reports alleging attacks on political figures in Ogun State and beyond, firmly denying any involvement in smear campaigns.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Adeboye Adejobi, the group maintained that it has never engaged in direct or indirect attacks against any candidate or political bloc.
Reaffirming its commitment to constructive engagement, the group stressed its focus on issue-based advocacy, respect, and unity, describing allegations linking it to negative campaigns as false and inconsistent with its principles.
It added that it would continue to support democratic processes in Ogun State through peaceful and development-oriented dialogue, while urging stakeholders to prioritise accuracy and integrity in political reporting.
