A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has officially obtained the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Lagos.

Ajose made the announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, describing the move as a significant milestone in his quest to lead the state under the APC platform.

“This moment is bigger than a political process. It is a personal commitment to purposeful leadership, inclusive governance, and the kind of progress that every Lagosian can feel and point to,” he stated.

The aspirant said his ambition is anchored on a vision of inclusive development and expanded economic opportunities across Lagos. He emphasized that his resolve is rooted in service and driven by a conviction that development should reach every community.

“My resolve is rooted in service, anchored in a clear vision, and driven by one conviction—that Lagos deserves development which reaches every community, creates real opportunities for its people, and leaves no one behind,” Ajose added.

Expressing optimism at the start of his political journey, Ajose noted that he is entering the race with humility and faith in the people of the state.

His entry into the contest comes at a time of evolving political alignments within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections. Incumbent governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred successor.

The party’s influential Governance Advisory Council has also reportedly named Hamzat as its consensus candidate, setting the stage for a potentially competitive contest within the ruling party.
