Tinubu’s APC Ticket Sparks Nationwide Endorsements Ahead of 2027 Polls

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Omotayo Alasoadura and former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, have congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on emerging as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.

The prominent APC figures, in separate statements issued on Monday, described Tinubu’s emergence as a clear endorsement of his leadership by party members across the country.

Sanwo-Olu described the President’s victory at the party primary as well-deserved, while commending APC members and the National Working Committee (NWC) for conducting a peaceful and transparent exercise.

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the Lagos governor said the adoption of the direct primary system reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and broader participation of members in the candidate selection process.

He also praised Tinubu’s economic policies and reforms, noting that the President had taken bold and necessary decisions aimed at stabilising Nigeria’s economy and ensuring long-term national growth.

According to Sanwo-Olu, Nigerians would continue to support the administration’s vision for sustainable development and national progress.

On her part, Alasoadura urged APC members nationwide to immediately commence grassroots mobilisation and door-to-door campaigns ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The former Ondo lawmaker said party faithful must intensify efforts to market Tinubu’s achievements to Nigerians following the successful completion of the presidential primary.

She further commended APC stakeholders and supporters in the Southwest for standing firmly behind the President during the primary process.

Also reacting, Okechukwu described Tinubu’s victory as a triumph for internal democracy within the ruling party.

He praised the APC’s deployment of the direct primary system, comparing it to the ancient Athenian model of direct democracy.

According to him, the successful conduct of the exercise demonstrated the party’s dedication to democratic principles, which he contrasted with the internal challenges currently facing opposition parties.
