APC-Controlled Councils in Osun Disburse N9bn to 180,000 Residents
Thirty local government councils in Osun State under the control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have commenced the disbursement of N9 billion to 180,000 residents as part of a large-scale empowerment initiative aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Under the programme, each beneficiary is to receive N50,000, with the funds targeted mainly at grassroots residents, including artisans, farmers and small-scale business operators, to support their means of livelihood.
The initiative is scheduled to run across four quarters within the year. So far, two phases have been completed, with 90,000 beneficiaries across the state’s 332 wards receiving a total of N4.5 billion.
Reacting to the development, the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Oluomo Sunday Akere, praised the local government chairmen for embracing the vision of President Tinubu, which he said focuses on purposeful leadership and improving the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
Akere, a former commissioner in the state, described the programme as a people-centred intervention capable of improving living standards and stimulating economic activities across Osun.
According to him, the injection of N9 billion into the local economy through direct support to residents would have far-reaching benefits for businesses and households.
“It is encouraging to see our local government chairmen embarking on an empowerment programme that will benefit 180,000 residents, particularly those at the grassroots. By the completion of the initiative, N9 billion would have been invested directly into the businesses and livelihoods of beneficiaries,” he said.
He noted that the multiplier effect of such investments would be felt across communities, helping to strengthen local enterprises and improve economic conditions.
Akere also commended APC elected officials in the state for what he described as their commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
He urged party leaders, stakeholders and members to continue mobilising support for the APC ahead of future elections, stressing that sustained electoral success would enable the continuation of programmes designed to improve the welfare of residents.
The APC chieftain further assured residents that additional people-focused initiatives would be introduced to cushion economic challenges and improve the well-being of citizens across the state.
